If your children ski several weekends a season in Andorra, you already know the routine: get to the shop, wait your turn, try on boots, adjust bindings… and do it all again the following Saturday. And if you’re thinking about buying, you know that the kit that fits them perfectly today will be too small by next winter.
A seasonal rental solves both problems. You pick up the kit in November or December, it’s theirs for the whole winter and you return it in spring. In this guide we explain how Pic Negre’s seasonal children’s ski rental in Andorra works, what equipment is included, how much it costs and how to choose the right range for your child.
Before deciding, it’s worth doing the maths based on how much your child is actually going to ski.
There’s also an advantage you’ll notice on the slopes: a child who skis all winter on the same skis and boots gets used to them and gains confidence much sooner.
The service is designed for boys and girls up to and including 13 years old and uses brand-new Atomic equipment, fitted to each child’s size, weight and level.
You can choose between three options:
And in every case, the rental includes one free repair of the equipment during the season. If the edges need touching up mid-winter, we’ll do it free of charge in our ski workshop.
One thing to bear in mind: new equipment is limited and is handed out while stocks last. Once it runs out, the rental continues with equipment from our rental fleet, selected and checked before every handover. If you want your child to be the first to use their kit, don’t leave it until the last day.
We have two ranges. The difference isn’t age, but how your child skis.
This is the option for children with a solid technical base who are already making carved turns and want edge grip, stability and a bit more speed. It suits kids who attend improvement courses or who ski many days a season.
A simpler option for progressing: the ski flexes more easily and the boots are comfortable to put on, which you’ll appreciate first thing in the morning when it’s cold and everyone’s in a hurry to get to the lift.
Can’t decide between the two? Think back to the last day you skied together. If your child waits for you at the bottom of the red runs, go for the Oro range. If you’re still working on speed control, choose the Junior range. And if you’re not sure, we’ll assess it in the shop with your child there.
A child can ski reasonably well on skis that aren’t ideal, but not in boots that hurt. The Atomic boots in our range have a 98 mm junior last and progressive flex, designed for growing feet.
A few tips to get it right:
Nor do you need to know the ski length in advance: our team decides it based on your child’s height, age, weight and level.
The helmet and back protector are not included in the packs, but you can add them to your rental:
If you also need a jacket or trousers for a particular weekend, take a look at our ski clothing rental.
Seasonal equipment can be picked up from two shops, one on each side of the country:
You can pick it up from one and, at the end of the season, return it to either of the two.
